Saturday

Monster Bash – Halloween Music Fest
Lake Monster Brewing – St. Paul
1pm – 9pm
{{$15 advance / $20 door}}
This is my pick of the weekend – there are F I V E bands playing and the ticket includes your first drink. I think that’s a pretty good deal. It is outside, on their plaza – but it sounds like there will be bonfires and patio heaters, plus one can always go inside Lake Monster. If you go, don’t miss sets by Chastity Brown (plays at 5:45pm) and HALEY (plays at 7:30pm).

The Rise of the Minneapolis Sound
Fitzgerald Theater – St. Paul
8pm – 11pm

If you’re trying to avoid Halloween festivities, this is a top notch alternate. A DJ from The Current wrote a book chronicling the history of the ‘Minneapolis Sound’ which is often credited for catapulting Prince’s early career. This is the book’s launch party and it will feature lots of great music.
